Personal Banner Reflection Statement:

My personal banner was inspired by my favorite yogi and teacher, Ram Dass. My intent was to visually communicate a well-known message and the title of one of his books, "Be Here Now." I wanted the focus to be on the text so I cut out big capital letters. For the banner itself, I decided on long horizontal strips of fabric that I sewed together. I chose textiles that reminded me of nature and colors I felt went well together. I want to keep exploring using my sewing machine and creating more textile banners in the future with different messages and sizes. This piece allowed me to explore my new sewing machine and see how easy it is to use and get me excited about creating more textiles in the future.
